Football at the HS field

Lets start on the football field issue first.

I guess I get it in a way but **** it's not like we broke in, the gates are open so why cant we play? Another question? We all play in shoes not cleats ha? We don't trash it up and its around 10 to 20 people at times, so what harm is the field in?

I love Coeburn but it's kinda stupid not to let people on the field, but on the other side as I stated before I can understand it...

Being a former player I would expect you to have more respect/pride and not want to go out on the field like that. I wouldn't expect Chubz to understand anything like that since he never played and doesn't know anything about earning the right to get to play on the field.

Matt has done a good job so far and I give him congrats but If I was the head coach I'd let everyone play on it. Might help Coeburn in the long run who knows

Right, you absolutely must play football in order to "earn the right" to go throw around a football in your spare time on a lengthy field. Why not criticize kids who go out and stomp all over Bullitt's field, too. After all, even though it's a town-owned field as pointed out by Lung, the Vikings bust their asses to play on it every other Friday night, right? I think it's more to do with protection of school property rather than any sort of implied right. That's a big glob of bologna created by those who like to look down upon others because they chose a different path.

I like coeburn and we wasn't out there trying to do it harm, just playing football. I wouldn't get on the field if it was raining or muddy, and it's not like it is football season anymore...

So how are we causing the field harm? No cleats, not playing in bad weather and not playing during the season.

But its not a big deal, I just don't see the harm in it. Crazy thing is people say PV school doesn't own the high school field and that may be true but if Phill didn't want anyone on it, haha you all know there wouldn't be a soul walk on that field...

Heck I've been up there and played on the field with Robbins him self there just watching and laughing at everyone there, they didn't trip out or go insane over it. We've played on Burtons field before to and nothing was said...

2 schools that are great in football most years don't mind you playing on their field but one school that is down like every year goes crazy on you if you dare walk out on the field...

Tommy don't act like i'm showing no respect, I just didn't see a problem with it, in coeburns off season!

I just disagree with the notion that you must have a right in order to go out and pass football on a field. If it were during game-time, you would certainly need to earn that right because if you're not on the team, you don't belong on the field as the game is being played. At any other time, though, it should be more of an issue of it being school property rather than any sort of right or other requirement. Bullitt is a great example, because it's a town-owned field but it is the home field of the Vikings and has been for many, many years, and has served as the home field for many legends in the area. I don't like being pointed out because I haven't played, and treated as if that's the prime issue to begin with - it's not.

Its a d a m n field, let people play. It's the off season and it's not a NFL or college field. As long as people take care of it and not trash up the area whats the deal?

With the bad things I said about Coeburn in the past, that's nothing. If I were Beast, I wouldn't like me very much, either. I completely understand his position and I was way out of line years back when I said so many nasty things about the program.

Has nothing to do with liking or disliking you at all, actually I don't dislike you at all. I guess you could say I am just indifferent toward you as I am anyone I don't know that well. We have had words in the past and such on here but most of that I was just having fun arguing.

It wasn't a tough shot on Chubz personally but more a general statement in which he became the example since he was in the conversation.

What is wrong with playing or passing a ball on the practice field right beside it and not have to worry about anyone saying anything or having a problem with it.

I didn't take it as a shot either. It might sound lame but after you spend 6 months out of 4-5 years of your life putting so much work and effort on a field like that it does leave a feeling of pride to see it looking nice. They just got bermuda grass put in there and that stuff is really hard to keep up. It's even worse at this time of year when the grass goes dormant for the winter. You don't have to run in cleats on it to mess it up. Tommy's also one of the best players in the history of Coeburn football and even when it was the old crab grass mess it was it meant a lot to him I'm sure.
